Very Good. 1931 University of Wyoming doctoral thesis submitted by Joseph Conrad Twinem pertaining to the genesis of the geological development of the lithosphere of southeastern Wyoming. Includes discussions of dozens of formations and numerous skillfully executed watercolors of cross-sections of formations, etc. Of special interest are four large watercolors, two of them 3-panel fold outs, of Wyoming landscapes, and one of the Rock Creek oil fields. Also includes 36 2 3/4" x 4 1/2" original, unique photos inserted in corner mounts - views of Wyoming camp facilities, canyons, mountains, striking geological features, Independence Rock, gold mining operations, the Pathfinder Dam, Parco, Wyoming (street view), oil distillers, a Snow Range sericite mine and much more. No exaggeration; this thesis is a work of art and unique. Notably, Twinem was the former Maine State Geologist, also an accomplished petroleum engineer and geologist. Bound in burgundy cloth with gilt lettering to spine panel. Typescript format. 133 pp. 11" x 8 1/2". Tight, unmarked copy with minimal shelf wear. Odor free.
