The Gentleman's Magazine and Historical Chronicle was a monthly magazine published from at least 1736-1850. Not only interesting for it's reporting of British history and antiquarian interests, it also records important information about events in the United States of America and other foreign states.

In this case, one set of articles concerns the disposition of the Louisiana Territory - first to the French, and then it's sale to America (this across several articles in both Part One and Part Two). The sale price and some details are included (some 60,000,000 francs!). Fascinating reading for anyone interested in the world in 1803.
