Sobre este artículo

Washington, D.C.:: U.S. Government Printing Office, 1960.. Paperbound . BINDING/CONDITION: paperbound; this was bound as if a much thicker book, with a 'vacant' section at the rear where the 'pages' are just folded-over stubs, to create room in the book's interior to accommodate the thick packet of plates. This is strictly a working copy; owner's markings fill the title page, some other markings in the text; much handling wear; binding is sound, but shabby; Fair condition.. 8vo (9 inches tall) . References, index. Description: Prepared in cooperation with the California Department of Water Resources. Five large folding 'plates' are stored in a pocket at rear. Summary of some of the material in the introduction: In 1948 a cooperative agreement was made by the Geological Survey, Department of the Interior and California's Division of Water Resources providing for an investigation of the ground-water resources of basins in California, with special reference to geologic features in the Sacramento Valley. The report included reconnaissance geologic mapping of the water-bearing deposits and the subjacent rocks with respect to their physical and hydrologic character, the thickness, distribution and structural features. The field work consisted of collecting about 6000 well logs and determining locations in the field of about 3200 of the wells for which the logs were collected. In addition to locating wells for which logs were collected, the field investigation included reconnaissance geologic mapping of the eastern margin of the Sacramento Valley, and subsequently of detailed mapping of parts of Solano and southern Yolo Counties as part of a separate investigation in that area. Topics include Geomorphology; Central Sacramento Valley; Plains and foothill region; Coast Ranges; Rocks that yield little or no water; Rocks that yield water freely; Geologic history; Geologic structure; Ground-water storage capacity.
