Trivial separation wear to the left hand edge where it was removed from a second leaf. Folded for mailing. ; Handwritten letter, one and a half pages, on mourning stationery. Signed George Bentley. Approx. 4 1/2" wide by 7 1/8". Printed letterhead 8. New Burlington Street, W. Handwritten July 2, 1872 and "Private". To Miss [Lashby? ] "Mr. Gladstone writes to me to day that he has read your work 'with much interest'. I thought you would like to know this ... Amidst the cares of office, it is something that the Premier should find time so soon to possess himself of the contents of a new book." .
