Small bookseller's sticker on rear pastedown. . First US printing. Although George du Maurier is perhaps best remembered today as the author of "Trilby", the novel which introduced Svengali to the world, this book focuses more on his work as an artist and cartoonist - for Punch and Cornhill and other periodicals. Includes 41 illustrations, including a frontispiece self-portrait, with titled tissue guards for the full page plates. A handsomely produced volume, somewhat oversized. 198 pp.
