On his father's plantation in Virginia there were a hundred slaves, some to keep the big house in order, some to care for the tobacco crop, others to run the shops - ... George was interested in all that went on and tried to learn as much as he could. He fared well at Master Hobby's school, except with his spelling lessons. George was no speller." Toned pages with some light tanning to inside covers. Original booksellers sticker on bottom of fep, small abrasion on top of fep where sticker was removed. Jacket has edgewear and sunned spine with a small chip from heel and a quarter inch tear at head. There are minor chips and tear to bottom of jacket back. . First. Cloth. Good/Good.
