This catalogue was produced to accompany the auction of the painting by Gerhard Richter (b.1932) entitled Schadel (Skull) held at Christie's King Street in London on 4th October 2018. Prior to the auction it had been held in the same private collection for 30 years, Schädel (Skull) is a masterpiece that stems from the height of Richter's photo-painting practice, and the catalogue includes an essay by Dietmar Elger as well as Richter's own thoughts on the subject..
