London: John Murray, 1955. Hardcover. Very Good Plus/Good Plus. FIRST EDITION. Previous owner's name to FFEP. Tiny crimps to upper corners of two pages. Dustjacket good plus. Moderately scuffed surfaces. Small chips and tears, less than .5", to edges. Sticker scar to bottom, rear panel. Lightly soiled. Black debossed lettering to spine of cadet-blue cloth-covered boards. With 12 black and white illustrations. Clean, tight, bright. 213 pp. Partly autobiographical, partly historic, partly reflective. The Spanish Steps are associated with all sorts of people, Popes, statesmen, philosophers, villians, children, and dogs. People of all nationalities and of many generations such as Von Bülow, Pope Pius IX, Madame Récamier, Ouida, Marconi, D'Annunzio, and Madame Mère have association with the Steps. "The result is something of an historic cavalcade...", (rear panel).
