No Dust Jacket (as issued). Boards with shelf wear, bumped at corners and spine ends with fraying. Leather worn at edges. Dust soil/ toning to page edges. Names and dates to verso of frontis. Pages unmarked most clean and bright, all fully legible. Binding with no separations. Hinges intact. Illustrations and protective tissues with heavy foxing

A few clean tears to final leaves long since (fairly neatly) repaired; spine sunned; otherwise a very good copy and the pictures splendid.

Her motive was to provide a 'prequel' which showed the development of the heroine's character through the events of her formative years.
