Some creasing to the spine ends of the brown cloth-covered pictorial boards, original owner's school prize label inside front board dated 1938. Otherwise a good clean tight copy of this hard-cover book, a story of four girls aged between thirteen and twenty who inherit an empty house from their uncle. Illustration on front board shows three girls in coats and berets standing at the foot of a pillared stairway while another girl stands on the lower step, illustration on spine shows two girls, one holding a cookbook, the other opening a jar. No publication date given, but probably mid 1930s. 298pp, colour frontispiece, b&w drawings in the text.. Hard Cover. Good/No Jacket. Illus. by Burgess, J R. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
