A charming and educational look into the wonders found on the shore of England. In this work Kingsley coined the word pteridomania. Illustrated with twelve colour plates. Collated, complete. Written by Charles Kingsley, a noted board church priest of the Church of England, well known for his works 'The Water-Babies' and 'Westward Ho!'. Sixteen pages of publisher's adverts to the rear. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. Small cracks to the head and tail of the front joints. A few light marks and some rubbing to the boards and spine. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with the odd spot and the odd mark. Very Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
