Hardcover, uncommon full leather binding, which was an expensive upgrade from the more common cloth or half leather editions. Front and spine are ornately decorated in bright gilt and silver, boards are beveled and blind stamped. Decorated end pages and front and rear and all exterior page edges are gilt. Unfortunately, the front board is held on only by several sections of the binder string and appears there may have been attempt to repair the leather with glue at one point. Internal hinges at boards have a strip of white cloth reinforcement which may have also been added at a later date. Despite the rough exterior the internal binding is good and text pages are tight. Pages are toned due to age but are clean except for the end pages which have some smudge marks. No signatures or bookplates, no… Leer más

Name of former owner on front end page in blue ink, and dated inscription by the author, Frances Willard, on the frontis-piece below her portrait. Pages are age tanned, but copy is otherwise unmarked. Covers are embossed with gold, silver and black, and show some rubbing and normal shelf wear.
