Ukrainian icons, unlike their Russian counterparts, incorporated noted influences from western art, particularly during the Renaissance and Baroque periods. The book features full-page illustrations and individual annotations for each of the 77 objects in the exhibition, with two essays by Ukrainian scholars, "Ukrainian School of Iconography" and "The Kyiv-Pechersk National Historical and Cultural Preserve."
