Sobre este artículo
Casablanca, Morocco: LAK International, 1998. First Edition. Hardcover. As New/Fine. 4to 11" - 13" tall. Mohamed Tabal. Stated First Edition, First Printing. A fine and engaging social history and art historical account of the social rituals of the Essaouiran Gnawa (also known as "Gnaoua"), an Afro-Moroccan group whose music and culture are the heartbeat of Essaouira (in Western Morocco). Gnawa, broadly Moroccan and other North African Islamic religious songs and rhythms are featured here and displayed prominently in a Gnawa-devoted music festival held annually in Essaouira, Morocco. Non-African and Western artists and "mystical" Gnaouan musicians meet in glorious dialogue here. Mohamed Tabal (1959- ) is a prominent Moroccan painter, and his work augments the music greatly, and are printed on high-gloss paper. Preface by Georges Lapassade, and contributions by heavy-hitters in musicology and Moroccan history. [13], 14-177 pp.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. Additional postage may be required for oversize or especially heavy volumes, and for sets.
