Creased spine edges, light even toning to the endpapers with a darker tone running vertically 2" on the rear pastedown. Otherwise this is an unmarked, clean copy. the price-clipped pictorial jacket has vertical closed tears on the foldovers of the front and rear panels. wear to the extremities, and a tape ghost on the rear panel from tape on the inner side of the jacket in fresh mylar sleeve. "Go Down, Moses is a collection of short stories (and two longer stories, "The Fire and the Hearth" and "The Bear") that, together, tell the composite history of the McCaslin family, of the descendents of Carothers McCaslin and the residents of the plantation he founded. The complete histories emerge gradually over the course of the book, with bits of information appearing in successive stories to clarify, complete, and sometimes controvert the information given in previous stories. But each story has its own plot, as well, independent of the other stories. The stories are: "Was", "The Fire and the Hearth", "The Pantaloon in Black", "The Old People".. First Edition. Hardcover. Go Down, Moses is a collection of Faulkner's stories that once strung together, tell the composite history of the McCaslin family, specifically of the white and black descendants of Lucius Quintus Carothers McCaslin and the residents of the plantation he founded.
