Frontispiece illustration. In German and English. Colophon states this publication was made to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the Maximilian Society in England, given by its English members. (Feier des fünfzigjährigen Bestehens der Maximilian-Gesellschaft im Oktober 1961 von den in England lebendend Mitgliedern gestiftet.) Selections from the foundational thinker and father of Romanticism, author, poet and artist's written English of different periods is given, including a number of letters to his sister Cornelia, from the 1760's.
