NO underlining. NO highlighting. NO margin notes. Well illustrated with 116 vintage photos and engravings. Full-color frontispiece features a scene of bicyclists along Riverside Drive in New York City. Pictorial endpapers show Skyline Views of New York in 1880 and 1899. This book takes a nostalgic look at New York City life in the 1890's. There are big sections on the theatre and movies with many photos of the stars, accounts of writers and illustrators, advertising, Wall Street, big hotels, the coming of the skyscraper, passing of the horse carriage, arrival of the hot dog, impact of the invention of photo-engraving on magazines, etc.. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good condition/No jacket. 8vo. 422pp.
