Descripción:
New York: Albert & Charles Boni, 1927 1st ed/6th printing Dec 1927, long inscription on the first title page in author's handwriting and signed by Author and Biller Houser to a Helen Lord, in the inscription gives a hint to who these people were, they were fellow teachers at an all male prep school named The Lawerenceville School in NJ, were Mr Wilder taught FRENCH, and had close ties to Princeton. BOOK: is very clean and the sections(signatures) are still very well bound, but the webbing between them is showing at some places, still very secure and held together tightly, other than that appears to be better than the Good+ I rate it.. included is a 9th printing, with its dustjacket which has chips and darken spine, maybe use it to protect the good one.

London: Michael Joseph, 1962. First Edition. Hardcover. Fine-/Fine-. First Impression of the Nobel laureate's "indispensable" masterpiece, significant "as the most massive statement made, up to that time, on the position of woman in the modern world." (Burgess). Tall, thick 8vo: 568pp. Publisher's black boards, spine lettered in gilt; first-issue typographic dust jacket (photograph of Lessing to rear panel) designed by William Belcher, priced 30s. About Fine (dust-soiled edges, mild offsetting to end papers), square, tight, probably unread; about Fine jacket (lightly dust soiled back panel, several edge nicks), still vibrant and bright. Time 100. Burgess 99. p.86. NYPL Books of the Century, p.130. Callil and Toibin 52. "Anna Wulf is a writer who keeps four notebooks, each a different color, each reflecting a different part of her. The black one contains recollections of her youthful wartime years in West Africa . . . In the red one she reflects on her later life in London's leftist and intellectual circles. The blue notebook analyzes her fraught relations with men. The yellow contains her fragmentary attempts at new fiction. With the fifth, the golden notebook, and with The Golden Notebook, Wulf/Lessing struggles to tie all the threads fearlessly back together again. All the currents of her time flow through Anna—Marx and Freud and the burgeoning dissatisfactions among women that would eventually explode into feminism. Lessing's earnestness can be too much at times, but as a portrait of a woman coming to grips with the realities of her time her book is indispensable." (Time 100) N. B. With few exceptions (always identified), we only stock books in exceptional condition, with dust jackets carefully preserved in archival, removable polypropylene sleeves. All orders are packaged with care and posted promptly. Satisfaction guaranteed.

Deutsche Verlags-Anstalt , Stuttgart, Germany, 1929. First Edition. Cloth. Very Good/No Dust Jacket. Signed by Author. 258pp; This is an extremely rare book with an incredible history. Based on my research, here is what I have learned: Josef Breitbach was born in Germany in 1903. From 1925 to 1928, he worked at a book dealer "Landauer" in Augsburg. While there, he developed relationships with the Communist Party. In 1928, he wrote and published this book, Rot Gegen Rot (Red Against Red), and was fired from his job in Germany because of the book. Josef wasn't popular with the German government either, and moved to France in 1929. While there, he published his next book in 1932, and the Germans banned his books in 1933. All in all, more than 4100 publications were banned by the Germans, but even on the short lists, Rot Gegen Rot is always one of the prominent books listed. Many of these books were collected and burned, but it is impossible to know how many actually…

London: London: printed for J. Nourse, at the Lamb, opposite Katherine-Street, in the Strand, 1746. 1st Edition . Full leather. Very Good. First edition, octavo; xvi,232pp, with full complement of 34 engravings, 33 of which are folding. In contemporary unlettered full calf (a little worn with minor loss to board corners, sometime skilfully rebacked in matching leather), five raised spine bands, internally clean with only the lightest of occasional dust staining. Muller was deputy head of the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, where he was instrumental to its transformation into a disciplined cadet academy. An attractive first edition example of his first work. Laurence Sterne possessed the text in second edition, with possible influence on Uncle Toby and Corporal Trim's obsessions with fortification in The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy. Preston, England: George Cartwright, 1852. Rare original daguerreotype stereoview picturing the plaster sculpture by Irish-born sculptor John Henry Foley ( 1818-1874) that was exhibited at the 1851 Great Exhibition in the Crystal Palace. An albumen print by Claude-Marie Ferrier is featured in Anthony Hamber's monumental work, Photography and the 1851 Great Exhibition, but the photographer for this daguerreotype stereoview is as yet unidentified. Hamber mentions that the Victoria and Albert Museum has a copy of this stereoview in their collection. Strangely enough the V&A misidentifies the image as "Bacchus Being Fed Grapes by [Venus?]" and makes no mention of the Foley sculpture. That is the only other copy of this daguerreotype stereoview I have been able to locate. On the verso of our stereoview is Cartwright's label as well as a handwritten identification of the subject. The daguerreotype is in excellent condition, with no bleeding at the edges. The cloth backing is…
