Box Hill, Dorking, 15 May 1878. 4 pp. 7 x 4 inches, in good condition. The uncommon autograph of George Meredith (1828-1909), novelist and poet. Unfortunately our old Sylvia has departed for Paris, & the cookery shows it, as the light gone out of the Camp. His correspondent is Tom Taylor (1817-80), critic, dramatist and editor of Punch, later to be the subject of one of Merediths poems, To A Friend Lost.
