Signed by Horgan on the front free endpaper of Volume 1, "Rose Johnson gives this book to her father John McIntyre/who has lived in the Rio Grande Valley for over 70 years/With Best Greetings/Paul Horgan/1954." Two volumes in slipcase, black cloth with blue endpapers. Front hinges cracked in both volumes. Owner name to the front pastedown of Volume 2, and a stain to the front free endpaper. Cloth dulled and rubbed, particularly to the spine of Volume 2. The pictorial slipcase is rubbed, with paper loss to the edges. Bibliography, index, maps. An essential regional history of the land, the people and the civilizations of the Southwest. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize. Signed trade editions are uncommon. Adams, Herd 1065. ; 1020 pages; Signed by Author .
