NY: Collier, 1889. First American edition. . Original tan pictorial wrappers, designed and lettered in red, bound into a later binding of cloth & marbled boards, spine lettered in gilt. This first American edition was issued only in paper wrappers; the British edition appeared slightly earlier the same year. Paper browning at edges, but a very nice clean copy. A noted future-war tale. BAL 18895, printing 1. Bleiler: Science Fiction, The Early Years, 2104.
