London, William S. Orr and Co., 1840. Hardback, approx 10 x 7 inches. Full dark green morocco leather binding, with decorative gilt paneled boards and gilt decoration and lettering to spine. Full gilt page edging, yellow endpapers. In very good condition. Some rubbing and fading to spine, spine rubbed at ends, small nick to top end. Minor bumps to corners. Some heavy rubbing to front spine edge. Bookplate to front endpaper “Anthony John Houssemayne Du Boulay.” Minor crack to front endpaper at bottom of front hinge. Some minor foxing to a few plates, most are tissue guarded. Small dark patch to verso of frontis plate. Pages all clean and tight. Else a very good clean and tight copy. 356pp. Illustrated with over 350 B&W woodcuts in text, and 28 full-page engraved plates, including 2 maps, and engraved title page.
