He was president of the Rabbinical Assembly, 1958-1960, and a member of its Committee on Jewish Law and Standards, 1948-1979. He was a noted author, notably, A Guide to Jewish Religious Practice. One of the outstanding halakhists of the movement, he was a member of the Committee on Jewish Law and Standards from 1948 until 1979. This volume is a detailed and comprehensive guide to Jewish practice for home and synagogue, written in the spirit of the Conservative movement. An extensive treatment of the laws determining customary Jewish practices is presented in light of religious sources and the Conservative movement and concerns such areas as marriage, holidays and observations, and dietary restrictions.
