Sobre este artículo

London: Whittaker and Co, 1841. Leather. Very Good Indeed. 9.5" by 6". None. A sammelband of works by Frederika Bremer, Miss Sedgwick, and H. D. Inglis, nicely bound in a diced calf binding. All of these works besides 'Tales of Ardennes' are undated with no publisher information, with 'Tales of Ardennes' being dated at 1841 and published by Whittaker and Co. The works are by the same publisher and of similar date, as they are all uniform, with the same borders, and same two-columns per page. This sammelband contains; 'The H- Family', by Frederika Bremer, translated from Swedish. 'The Bondmaid. To Which is Added, Axel and Anna; or, A Correspondence Between Two Stories of the Same House', by Frederika Bremer, translated from Swedish. 'The President's Daughters. A Narrative of a Governess', by Frederika Bremer, translated from Swedish. 'Strife and Peace: or, Scenes in Norway', by Frederika Bremer, translated from Swedish. 'The Linwoods; or, 'Sixty Years Since' in America', by Miss Sedgwick. 'Home', by Miss Sedgwick. 'Tales of Ardennes', by H. D. Inglis, published by Whittaker and Co in 1841. Frederika Bremer was a Swedish writer, whose 'Sketches of Everyday Life' made her a popular writer in Britain, often being called the Swedish Jane Austen. Bremer was also a feminist reformer, establishing the first female tertiary school in Sweden. Her works include 'Hertha'. Catharine Sedgwick was an American novelist, and became one of the most popular American writers of her time. This volumes includes 'The Linwoods', which is a historical romance set in the American Revolution. Henry David Inglis, also known by his pseudonym Derwent Conway, was a Scottish travel writer. 'Tales of the Ardennes' was his first work, and was very well received upon its publication. Inglis also published travels works on Norway, Sweden, France, and Spain. In the original diced calf binding. Externally, smart. Light fading and patches of rubbing to the joints and to the spine, mostly to the raised bands. Minor marking to the boards, causing just a little discolouration. Light rubbing and bumping to the extremities. The odd spot to the fore edge and to the endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed
