Sobre este artículo
[Habana (Havana, Cuba): Imp. El Score, Luz 45, 1930]. [4]pp. Program. Approx. 9 x 6 inches. Bifolium. Text in English and Spanish. Brief pencil annotation on verso. Folds; minor handling; very good.
Official program for the "Habana-Madrid" frontón or jai-alai venue in Havana, Cuba. The Basque/Spanish sport of jai-alai, played extremely fast with a small ball, was popular among gamblers.
This program for the evening of March 6, 1930 list five games to be played that night including doubles (partidos) and elimination (quinielas) matches. The leading players and their uniform "colors" are noted, no doubt to assist the following of the fast game-play and to keep track of one's gambling. Admission prices are noted for premium, court side, bleacher, and stand-only admissions. Reserved seating for tourists was also available.
English-language texts explain the game, the rules of scoring as well as how to bet on the "pari-mutual" (parimutuel) system for both doubles and elimination singles matches.
