Two volumes of Charles Knight's selection of works by the best authors, confined to those to be read in half an hour, in a charming Bickers and Son binding. Two volumes of Charles Knight's selection of works by the best author, only including works to be read in half an hour each. Comprising a miscellany of poetry, prose, essays, characters, stories, descriptive, narrative or dramatic verse, adventures, moral and religious exhortations, and much more. A new edition. In a charming full calf binding signed Bickers & Son. A collection of excerpts from various influential British authors throughout history, these volumes containing works by Herschel, Coleridge, Lord Bacon, Crabbe, C Lamb, Jane Austen, Macaulay, Plutarch, Pope, Cowper, Keats, and many more. In a full calf signed binding with five raised bands and gilt to the spine and edges, with marbled endpapers. Externally smart with some shelf wear, the spine slightly rubbed and faded. With Gerald Harsley's bookplate to the front pastedown of volume I, and bookplate stamp to the verso of the front free endpaper of each volume. Internally, firmly bound. With some spotting to the first and last few leaves, otherwise the pages are bright and clean. Very Good
