Full blue polished calf, lacking the title label at the spine. 5 raised bands with intricate gilting to the spine, gilted decorative borders front and back as well as stamped, gilted crest of the Campden Grammar School of Gloucestershire to the front. Marbled page edges. 340 pp. with "numerous illustrations " (97 by my count)...Presentation copy by Francis Bazley Osborne, Headmaster ( 1889 to 1913) to his son, Alec, Midsummer 1907, as noted on the presentatation paper 4" x 5" attached inside the front board. Binding by Relfe Brothers, Limited, London , as noted at obverse bottom of FEP. Marbled EPs. This copy is VG. Exterior has modest/moderate scuffing . Inside is otherwise unmarked, firmly bound, and all hinges solid. Frontispiece with tissue guard. Scattered foxing, but unobtrusive. Quite lovely..
