Sobre este artículo

London: The Bodley Head, 1968. First edition. Cloth. Very Good/Good. 8" by 5". None. The first novel from Robert Stone, which went on to win the William Faulkner Foundation Award and many others. First edition. His best known work is characterised by action-tinged adventures, political concerns and dark humour. Many of his novels are set in unusual, exotic landscapes of raging social turbulence, such as the Vietnam War; a post-coup violent banana republic in Central America; Jim Crow-era New Orleans, and late 1990's Jerusalem. In a navy cloth binding with original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, smart. Some light bumping. to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Dustwrapper is sound, though with some edgewear, tape marks, and slight rubbing and sunning. Tape marks to endpapers. Ink stamp to front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with just the odd spot to the fore-edge. Very Good

Sinopsis

Rheinhardt, a disk jockey and failed musician, rolls into New Orleans looking for work and another chance in life. What he finds is a woman physically and psychically damaged by the men in her past and a job that entangles him in a right-wing political movement. Peopled with civil rights activists, fanatical Christians, corrupt politicians, and demented Hollywood stars, A Hall of Mirrors vividly depicts the dark side of America that erupted in the sixties. To quote Wallace Stegner, "Stone writes like a bird, like an angel, like a circus barker, like a con man, like someone so high on pot that he is scraping his shoes on the stars."
