No. 1 missing lower corner of . pp 1-4, which does affect text.. 1915. Hardcover. A bi-weekly (later monthly) English-language newspaper published in Hamburg, Germany and distributed in the US by H. C. Siemer of New York City. This volume contains 17 consecutive issues of the large format softcover newspaper published from No. 1 (October 15, 1914) to No. 17 (August 1, 1915) and bound together in olive buckram binding. Measures 33 x 26 cm. Each issue contains 24 pages. This collection of newspapers provides a German perspective on the first years of World War I and features many photogravures of soldiers in the field, in dress uniform, prisoners of war at work, military leaders, and scenes of German victories abroad. Nice portraits of Hindenberg and Bismarck and many shots of pickelhaubes, forked beards and exuberant moustaches. Fascinating articles about the shortcomings of the enemy militaries and governments, social issues, zeppelins, trench warfare, Russian women, elephants on the warfront and other subjects. ; Folio 13" - 23" tall .
