Hardcover. 163 pages; Lacks ffep, "S. 2" written on first blank, otherwise unmarked and complete in original brown cloth binding with decorative blindstamping to both boards. Cloth chipped along spine, corners rubbed through. Pages toned, some light scattered foxing. OCLC 1255871190 Anthony Hamilton was a sergeant in the 43rd Light Infantry, part of the famous British Light Division. During his time with the regiment, he participated in most of the major battles and sieges of the Peninsular War. He was there at Vimiero, Corunna, and Oporto; he was wounded at Talavera and the siege of Badajoz and eventually was captured by the French at San Sebastian during the battles of the Pyrenees in 1813. He was there at Fuentes d'Orno, when the Light Division made its famous retreat across the plains, surrounded by hordes of French cavalry. Sergeant Hamilton was also part of the "forlorn hope" at the siege of Badajoz. .

At The Antiquarian Book Shop, located in Georgetown - an historic neighborhood of Washington, D.C. we have been buying, selling & appraising rare, interesting and scholarly books in Georgetown for more than 30 years. Over those many years we have taken great pleasure from satisfying our customers' eclectic literary requirements in the shop and hope to continue in that tradition now that we have moved our operation on-line.Currently, our catalogued inventory includes about 4,000 books from the sixteenth century through the twentieth century in a variety of subject areas. We are in the process of cataloguing the extensive holdings in our warehouse (15,000+ books) and hope to flesh out these pages over the months to come.
