Very Good. N.D.. Autograph Letter Signed (ALS). Circa 1900s. Dated Jan. 16, with no year. Letter has some soil, red penciled marks, and light fold wear. Signed handwritten letter from American writer Hamlin Garland (1860-1840) to a Mr. Markham, most likely poet Edwin Markham, who moved to New York in 1899. On stationery of the Players Club, Gramercy Park. "Dear Mr. Markham: I think you know of our "Progress and Poverty" Dinner; I wonder if you haven't a short poem which you could read to us? I want poesy represented....I hope you and yours are well and that you are full of orders[? ]. Very sincerely yours, Hamlin Garland. Jan. 16." ; 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall; 1 pp .
