Sobre este artículo
"This work is designed for the use of classes in technical schools, and also as a field book for surveyors. It is intended to embrace the concise form the ground that a student should cover in surveying before taking up the subject of railroad locations." Includes: Fundamental Principles, Land Surveying, Leveling and Triangulations, Topographic Surveying, Tables, and Plates.
Condition: Dark brown leather boards with gold gilt text to the spine. There is rubbing along the front gutter edge, and all sides of the front and rear board edges. Light creasing to the front cover leather from opening the book but boards are otherwise free of blemishes. Corners were rounded at publication with wear to the edges. The spine is straight, firmly attached, and with no cracking to endpapers but the back strip is worn and with slight damage to the top and bottom, plus some rubbing marks along spine. Binding and text block are solid with gold glit along all sides of the page edges. Age tanning throughout. Previous owner name on the reverse side of the front free endpaper. The next blank interior page has been torn out but otherwise, interior pages are clean with no chips, tears, or other previous owner marks. Foldout "Isogonic Chart of the United States for 1910" is intact but has a tear at the lower edge at attachment to text block. 246 pages plus 24 pages of blank graph paper.
Mansfield Merriman (1948 – 1925) was a "true" civil engineer in his professional diversity: hydraulics, bridge design, construction, and author of many civil engineering books. He graduated from Yale's Sheffield Scientific School in 1871, later becoming a civil engineering professor at Lehigh University from 1878 to 1907, and later a consulting civil and hydraulic engineer.
