With thirty maps and plans and numerous illustrations. (xii) + 553 pp. + 1 pp. colophon + 38 pp. advertisements. 8vo., red cloth stamped in gilt and blind, rounded corners. Moderate soil and wear to boards, corners and spine slightly chipped and frayed. Spine says: London: John Murray;" front cover is stamped in gilt "Murray's Hand-Book Japan." Yellow endpapers with b/w illustrations, lightly soiled/rubbed with pencil ownership to ffep. Color frontispiece (folding map) in very good condition, as are the other maps and plans (some folding) - a few have small closed tears at joints. Indexed, with hotel and travel ads at rear, also illustrated. Good overall.
