Six hand-coloured vignettes to title pages and 87 hand-coloured steel engravings by John Leech, plus numerous wood engravings in text.Red half morocco with 5 raised bands, gilt titles and sporting motifs to spines and gilt ruling to to marbled boards. Top edge gilt; marbled endpapers to match boards. Edges a little scuffed. Retailer's ticket to front pastedown and ownership inscription to first blank of each; minor scattered foxing, mainly to margins. Inner rear hinge of "Plain or Ringlets" cracked. Overall a handsome set of Surtees' comic novels.
