A novel by Robert Graves, recounting the life and times of William Palmer, surgeon and racecourse winner, who is accused of killing fourteen people by poison, and eventually hanged for poisoning John Parsons Cook despite the closest people to him claiming that he 'never had it in him to hurt a fly'.In this novel, Graves supports his innocence. With the unclipped dust wrapper.Acquired from the sale of Paul Gallico's library, American novelist and short story and spots writer, best remembered for The Snow Goose and The Poseidon Adventure. In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally very smart with only minor shelf wear and a minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine, with some spotting to the boards and spine. With a stamp to the front free endpaper 'Not to be removed from editorial reception room.' The dust wrapper is sound and unclipped, with some shelf wear and chipping, as well as the minor closed tear. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean. Very Good
