First published by Doubleday in 1958. Mass Market Paperback. Harold Albert Lamb (1892 – 1962) was an American historian, screenwriter, short story writer, and novelist. Robert E. Howard described Lamb as one of his "favourite writers" and Cecelia Holland has described Lamb as "a master of pace, he had a gift also for the quick glimpse of a landscape that throws everything into perspective", and has praised Lamb's plotting and action writing. Writers influenced by Lamb's work include Robert E. Howard, Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson, Norvell Page, Gardner Fox, Thomas B. Costain, Harry Harrison, and Scott Oden. Hannibal was one of Lamb's last works.
