Sobre este artículo

New York: George H. Doran, 1924. Near fine in very good box.. First US trade edition with Nielsen's spectacular illustrations, among the greatest of all the many Golden Age interpretations of Andersen. Nielsen illustrates the work of fellow Dane, Andersen, in this gorgeous deluxe gift book with a style mixing "some of the decorative design of Art Nouveau with the bold shapes of Art Deco" (Menges). Includes "The Snow Queen," "The Nightingale," and more. The cover design of this edition has something of a glimmer to it, standing out even more in such beautiful condition. A stunning production, quite scarce in the original box. 11'' x 8.5''. Original black cloth with silver pictorial paste-on. Grey pictorial endpapers. In original box. Illustrated by Nielsen with 12 color plates and additional black and white images. 280, [2] pages. Box with some repairs and reinforcements to joints and corners, one corner cracked, all holding; some light rubbing and wear. Book with silver on spine partially effaced, faint soil to rear board. Lovely.
