Marked the debut of Vonnegut as a professional playwright in this story, written while he was living on Cape Cod in Barnstabe, MA, about "a new kind of American hero--the hero who refused to kill." The play premiered off-Broadway & ran for 142 performances through Mar. 1971, when it closed at the Edison Theatre on Broadway. In 199 pages, with black-and-white still photos from the production throughout text. This is a Fine copy in a Near Fine DJ, but a Book Club Edition (BCE). Hardcover octavo with black cloth-over-boards & red embossed design to front/lettering to spine is nearly flawless: completely clean, pages white, binding strong & straight; NO writing, underlining, or highlighting; not ex-lib. the bottom front flap of the DJ is clipped, & there is extremely minor rubbing to extremities, but NO fading, tears, or chips. Nicely protected in new mylar cover Free!
