First edition, first printing. 92pp. One of a special edition limited to 1250 copies made for friends of the author and publishers. Bound in red cloth-covered boards with gilt titles on spine. 12mo. Boards slightly rubbed and rounded at corners and spine tips; a few marks, spine sunned. Hint of toning on endpapers and in page margins. Mackinlay Kantor (born Benjamin McKinlay Kantor), 1904-1977, was an American journalist, screenwriter and novelist, writing more than thirty novels, several set during the American Civil War. He was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for his 1955 novel, Andersonville.
