Tennyson’s second play, which followed "Queen Mary," published the year previous. At first harshly received by the critics, "Harold" was withheld from production and not publicly staged until over fifty years later, in 1928. First American Edition, from author’s advanced sheets. Twelve full-page monochrome illustrations, each with guard tissue. Very Good Plus, clean, crisp, bright, binding tight, sound and square, corners sharp, all gilding brilliant. Previous owner signature in small neat hand on f.f.e.p.
