1835. No binding. Very Good. Signature and date: "Harriet Martineau / Febry 16th, 1835" on a small piece of paper 2-1/2 x 3-3/4 inches. A number of pin holes and corner tear, otherwise very good condition.
Harriet Martineau was a British social theorist and Whig writer often cited as the rst female sociologist. Martineau wrote many books and a multitude of essays from a sociological, holistic, religious, domestic, and perhaps most controversially, feminine perspective; she also translated various works from Auguste Comte. She earned enough to be supported entirely by her writing, a rare feat for a woman In the Victorian era.
