New York: James Pott and Co., 1890. First American Edition. . Hardcover. Very Good-/No Jacket. Ballingall, W.. Bound in brown cloth with titles and backgrounds in white and gilt. 368 pages. No copyright, but the plates match those of the British edition published by Hodder and Stoughton in 1887, so the 1890 date to the title page would indicate the first American printing. The covers are identical with the British issue, excepting for their color. Illustrations (not identified by page numbers) by W. Ballingall. Tissue guard present at the frontispiece. The cloth shows mild edgewear at the corners and spine ends, with four tiny frays at the heel. Inked ownership information to both pastedowns and front free endpaper, otherwise unmarked. Front hinge just starting; the rear is solid. Altogether a handsome copy of one of the author's least common titles. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall
