Sobre este artículo

Grosset & Dunlap, New York, 1932. Early Edition. Hardcover. Very Good+ Condition/Very Good-. Illustrator: Pelagie Doane. Book This is an early printing in Axe's Format I (1932-1937) in collectible condition. The binding, lavender end papers and good paper fit his Formats I and II, but the three glossy internals only appear in Format I. In addition, the following points from the dust jacket help to date the printing to 1936-37: DJ front flap - JB series listed to #10 "The Riddle of the Double Ring" (1937); rear cover - Nancy Drew series listed to "The Mystery of the Ivory Charm" (1936), rear flap - Melody Lane series lists to "The Dragon of the Hills" (1936). There are four pages appended to the end promoting the G&D girls' series: JB - lists to #9 "The Mysterious Half Cat" (1936); Dana Girls - lists to #5 "The Secret at the Hermitage" (1936); Melody Lane - lists to #5 "The Terror of the Moaning Cliff" (1935); Nancy Drew - lists to #10 "The Password to Larkspur Lane" (which moved from #9 to #10 in 1933). Size: 7.5"-8" - Small Octavo (Sm. 8vo). 212 pages. Item Type: Book. Text block is tight, unmarked and only slightly toned. In additon to the glossy frontis, there are three internal glossy full-page illustrations. Hardcover bound in thick light-green cloth over boards with title and small square picture in lavender and title in lavender on the spine. The corner tips are sharp with light wear, though the front bottom corner is starting to fray. Light wear at the head and foot of the spine. The upper left corner of the front cover looks as if it took a bump and has a slight 7/8" crease. The end papers are an ivory sketch of Judy holding a flashlight coming down stairs against a lavender background. No foxing in this copy. The clipped white spine dust jacket (Axe's "Dust Jacket A") has some chipping at the tops and bottoms of the folds, all about 1/8" except for the one at the top of the spine's front fold, which is about 1/4" by 3/8". The jacket is protected by a heavy Brodart sleeve. A previous owner has written her name and grade (7 A) in pencil at the top of the half-title page. The top page edge is stained a dark purple; the side and bottom page edges are clean, though slightly toned. Illustrator: Pelagie Doane. Quantity Available: 1. Category: Teens & Young Adult; Mysteries; United States; 1930s; Main Picture: Margaret Sutton, The Haunted Attic (New York: 1932; printing c. 1936-37) - Front panel and white spine in the Axe Dust Jacket A style, protected in a clear sleeve.
