Sobre este artículo
Boston: Forbes, [1918]. Poster. 28 x 21 inches. Color half tone illustration. A few small closed tears in margins; near fine.
The American Red Cross experienced tremendous growth as a national humanitarian organization with the United States' entry into the First World War in April 1917.
At Christmas time 1918, the Red Cross appeals directly to the American people to become members of the Red Cross and join in its humanitarian work of aiding soldiers and producing medical supplies for the war.
Designed by "Golden Age" children's book illustrator, Jessie Willcox Smith, the poster shows a young boy placing a Red Cross service flag on public display, cleverly making the organization's emblem the central focus of the scene.
