Appears unread, in publisher's original black cloth boards, slightly age tanned pages typical of books of this age from this publisher, pages are clean and binding tight. Dust Jacket Condition: VG+. Unclipped with the original price of $2.95 on the upper first inner flap, lightly sunned spine, micro-chips, rubbing and creases to extremities typical of dust jackets of this age, jacket in professional collector mylar protector sleeve. Overall a about fine copy. Scarce signature and inscription on the first endpaper by pulp fiction author and comic book creator Kendell Foster Crossen. This is the eighth book of the 21 novel pulp fiction detective series featuring one of his most famous protagonists, insurance investigator Milo March, written by Crossen writing under the pseudonym M.E. Chaber. This novel A Hearse of Another Color features typical tongue and check hardboiled detective while embracing the Civil Rights movement of the times. The 1958 movie The Man Inside starring actors Jack Palance and Anita Ekberg was based on one of Crossen's novels in the series featuring the character Milo March. Paperback Library published all 21 novels of the series with cover art paintings by the the legendary pulp artist Robert McGinnis. Crossen wrote over 45 pulp fiction novels, 300 short stories, numerous screenplays and hundreds of radio scripts under many pseudonyms including; M.E. Chaber, Christopher Monig, Richard Foster, Bennett Barlay, Clay Richards and more. Crossen was one of the founders of the Mystery Writers of America. As of this writing, this is the only known first edition of this title signed by author Kendell Foster Crossen on the market. Crossen was editor of the pulp fiction magazine Detective Fiction Weekly, wrote featured stories in numerous pulp magazines such as Amazing Stories, Thrilling Wonder Stories, Startling Stories, Planet Stories and is the creator of the 1940's Golden Age comic books the Green Lama and Atoman.
