Black-and-white illustrated frontispiece of Heinrich Heine. The text is illustrated with 10 black-and-white contemporary illustrations throughout the text. Black coloured cloth covered boards with gilt titles to the backstrip. Bumping and rubbing to the backstrip edges and to the book corners. Rubbing to the book edges and to the book panels which also show marks. Browning and dust marks to the top text block edge with browning to the other text block edges and to the internal text. The internal text has been somewhat crinkled. Biography of the German poet and philosopher Heinrich Heine. Translated by Mervyn Savill. First English Translation. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
