Evelyn Waugh (1903-1966) was a well-renowned English writer of travel books, novels and biographies. This is Waugh's sole historical fiction work. It follows Helena of Constantinople and her mission to find the relics of the cross on which Christ was crucified. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth is very smart and bright, with some loss to the gilt spine lettering. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
