London: Humphrey Millford, Oxford University Press,. Good+ with no dust jacket. 1933. Presumed First UK Edition. Paperback. One of a series of 'The Henny-Penny Books For Little Chicks' for children. All Miniature books sized 7cm x 6.5cm (c. 2.8" x 2.5") . Highly destinctive original pictorial covers in primary colours of blue, white, red, and green, and featuring a Cockerel on the front, and a hen on the back - titled in red, with card covers cut flush, front and back. Stapled. The staples are rusty and internally 'bleeding' rust in places in the gutters, but all holding soundly. Internally there is a list of titles in this 'Henny-Penny' series (24 listed) on the reverse of the title page. No pagination (but circa 48 card pages). Numerous b/w cute illustrations throughout the book but not 'signed'. Many of the illustrations here have been coloured in by a child, who has a fondness for yellow , but done pretty neatly! . Overall the book is tight and clean otherwise, with NO Inscriptions or other marks than those already noted. A charming example of an early child's 20th Century Miniature book. Probably a cheaper option to the publisher's hardback 'Tippenny-Tuppenny' Books. A delightful tale of the Farmyard goings on! Overall a Good plus copy, but scarce.
