Lynn, Massachusetts: Rumford Supply Co, 1906. Most of the delicate botany samples are fully intact, but a few have come loose from the mountings. On most sheets, plants have stained the opposite page with an impression. Overall, an exceptionally preserved and artfully made object.. Unique botany journal. An unbound, half leather, string tied portfolio containing twenty-six folded signatures, each with a unique dried, and pressed botany sample mounted with descriptive notations on the opposite page. The portfolio was manufactured as a blank notebook by the Rumford Supply Co. of Lynn, Massachusetts; an additional page of notebook paper laid-in with a numbered contents list and Marion Jackson's name signed. Jackson apparently assembled the plant samples, each of which is artfully arranged, pressed, and attached to the page with tiny mounts. Altogether, a charming and beautiful presentation.
