Sobre este artículo

London: John Murray, 1959. First edition. Cloth. Fine/Near Fine. 9.5" by 7". Osbert Lancaster. A lovely copy of this pictorial history of domestic architecture, signed with illustrations by the author. The first edition of this work in the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Inscribed by the author to the title page. Sir Osbert Lancaster (1908-1986) was an English cartoonist, architectural historian, stage designer and author. A revised and expanded omnibus version of Pillar to Post and Homes Sweet Homes, this engaging architectural history offers a survey of American architecture from the earliest times until the 1950s, with wonderful illustrations by the author. He includes recognisable architectural styles such as Gothic, Baroque, and Regency, as well as his take on more modern styles such as 'Bankers' Georgian', 'Aldwych Farcical' and 'The Wide Open Plan'. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth is very bright and smart. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. Dust wrapper is bright and generally smart, with a little chipping to the head of the spine and a couple of small closed tears to the upper extremities. Slightly darkened to the spine of the wraps. Fine
